Saltworks, 2005

Saltworks was commissioned by the College of Saint Catherine to commemorate 100 years of women's education. Developing the theme of inspiration, Taylor invited alumni, faculty, and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet to hand-form the salt figures while speaking their experience of the college.

The "Breathing Wall" is stitched from hundreds of pages from books discarded from the college library. The three salt cellars honor the imagination, experience, and memory of the Saint Catherine community.
